St. Mary of the Angels in Hollywood, CA has long been known as the preeminent Anglo-Catholic parish in the Western US. Worshiping in a historic and beautiful Spanish style building, it is often described as an urban shrine parish. Currently the parish is being served by interim clergy and by Bishop Owen Williams himself.
We are currently seeking a full time priest for the parish. The parish offers an attractive salary package which may increase as the congregation grows. There is a small rectory on premises suitable for a single person or a married couple (not suitable for children). We have an excellent choir and the choirmaster/organist is one of the best on the West Coast (professor emeritus of choral music from USC).
Our core group is committed and, with the assistance of Bishop Owen Williams, the parish is stable. This is a rare opportunity for the right sort of priest.
The ideal candidate would be a single man and a high church Anglo-Catholic. We will consider a married priest - the concern is with the high cost of living in the Hollywood area. The parish is part of the ACA/DOW so letters dimissory would need to be provided to Bishop Owen Williams along with the usual diocesan licensing requirements.
The first contact would be with the Rev'd Canon William Bower, and, if appropriate, I would arrange transportation and logging for a visitation to the parish on a Sunday.
You can reach Canon Bower by email: firstname.lastname@example.org
